Welcome to the 2024 T2M Conference – we hope you find the sessions inspiring and the connections invaluable.

Couchsurfing

The CoMoDe group, together with the Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography network organized an "emergency" Couchsurfing pool for everyone who has not yet found an accommodation and/or can not afford a hotel room in the city because of missing institutional funding, very tight personal budget or simply because every affordable stay is already booked out. This month, Leipzig is full of conferences and this goes along with rising costs for Hotels through unusual high demand. This is why we want to offer Couchsurfing explicitly as an emergency solution and directly appeal to participants who have not yet found a place to stay.

What is Couchsurfing and how does it work?
The basic idea is: Locals from IfL offer free accommodation, you get in contact with them and stay at their place over the duration of the conference.
We want to make it possible to connect T2M participants with local hosts who can spare a bed, a couch, or a mattress for free in their own home in or close to Leipzig. For this purpose, we asked around in our institute network and within our own team. Everyone who offers to be a host is either part of the local T2M crew or a dear colleague that we know and trust. You then simply get in contact with a potential host and organize your stay together.

How do I partake?
For connecting you with potential hosts, we created a Telegram group, where all locals already joined and have mostly already posted their offers. Commonly, the hosts share some information on how they could accommodate you, the respecting days and the approximate location.
So, if you are in urgent need of a Couch to surf on, please join our Telegram group via the invite link below. In this group, you can then look at all offers and directly reply if you wish to take on a certain offer. If everything seems fitting, you can share contacts via direct message and organize everything else in private.

If you want to partake but you have no Telegram or problems accessing the app, or if you have general questions about the Couchsurfing procedure, please write to Stella Köhler (m_koehler@leibniz-ifl.de). In case you cannot use the app in any way, send a mail to her including some information about you and your needs, she will then share your request in the group. However, we highly encourage to download and use the Telegram App since it makes further communication for you and the hosts much more easy and uncomplicated.
